Staff Accountant

Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant in Oakdale, Minnesota. This role involves a focus on accounting functions, specifically handling invoices, agings, deposits, and providing accurate reporting and recording. The successful candidate will also play a part in ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and will be expected to take charge of processes and make them their own.

Responsibilities

• Review trucking, steamship line, and agent invoices for accurate pricing in the operations system.

• Reconcile statements for vendors and troubleshoot any discrepancies.

• Set up agent settlements and process wires for payments to our Agents.

• Prepare daily deposits.

• Review and create check batches, ACH, and wire payments for trucker, steamship line, and office expenses.

• Update and prepare customer statements for receivables.

• Facilitate collections of accounts receivable.

• Process insurance claims.

• Run monthly reports to tie to general ledger, passing off to Controller.

• Review truck insurance and license updates.

• Communicate courteously with anyone in the company, customers, vendors, and agents overseas.

• Interact with logistics employees and salespeople in resolving discrepancies. Requirements - A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a related field

• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Hands-on experience with accounting software

• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables

• Experience with general ledger functions

• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills.
