Staff Geologist II

Verdantas is a national consulting group seeking a talented Geologist II to join our team in the Irvine, CA office.

Responsibilities:

• Perform field and office tasks at the direction of senior management staff

• Conduct field trenching/drilling, logging/sampling, and geologic mapping tasks

• Conduct field percolation tests and slope inclinometer monitoring, etc.

• Collect, analyze, and document field findings

• Observe/test soil compaction as part of grading control

• Assist in the preparation of compaction reports and geotechnical exploration reports

• Actively pursue Professional Geologist licensure

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science or equivalent

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in consulting

• Current or active pursuit toward GIT and Professional Geologist certification

• General knowledge of southern California geology and practice of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering

• Certified HAZWOPER training preferred

• Ability to conduct fieldwork with some heavy lifting

• Proficient with MS Office suite of products

• Availability to travel to local job sites and open to infrequent distant project work with possible overnight stays

• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
