    Description:

    Under limited supervision, operates hospital power plant equipment to provide power and light in a safe and comfortable manner. Assures proper operation and maintenance of boilers, air conditioning, exhaust fans, vacuum and circulating pumps.

    Must maintain a 1st class City of Sioux City, IA. Hydronic Engineer's license or be able to obtain within 4 months of employment.

    What you will do:

    • Operates, repairs, prepares for inspection, tests and chemically treats boilers to maintain safe, correct, efficient operating condition according to established standards and procedures.

    • Operates, repairs, tests and chemically treats chiller systems to maintain safe, correct, efficient operating condition according to established standards and procedures.

    • Has knowledge, skills and ability to accomplish most tasks in the areas of plumbing, welding, HVAC, install and adjust thermostats and pressure controls.

    • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and replace HVAC system components, including pumps, motors, traps, valves, regulators, etc., alone and with assistance.

    • Ensures all electrical feeds to equipment are connected correctly, in proper phase and verify proper voltage and amperages required.

    • Operates, repairs, cleans and paints boiler room utilities systems, boiler room equipment and boiler room to maintain proper, effective, safe and sanitary operation.

    • Operates computer's energy management system, preventative maintenance system and pneumatic tube system.

    • Performs preventative maintenance and safety tests on equipment and systems according to established procedures and schedules.

    • Controls and records proper operating temperatures and pressures according to established procedures and practices.

    • Operates, maintains and tests emergency and standby systems to maintain ready status according to established procedure.

    • Requests or purchases supplies, parts or equipment necessary to perform maintenance or operating function according to established procedure.

    • Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

    • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Mercy and Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

    What we are looking for:

    • High school graduate/GED required.

    • Must maintain a 1st class City of Sioux City, IA. Hydronic Engineer's license or be able to obtain within 4 months of employment.

    • Able to demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks normally associated with at least two of the traditional building trade groups and to work at those tasks with effectiveness, speed and quality of work as per established industry standards. Demonstration may be through a combination of documented prior work performance and real time testing. Traditional building trades include carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanic and general mechanic.
