Storage and Backup Engineer

SAIC is looking for a Storage and Backup Engineer to join our Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) team in Washington, DC. The Storage and Backup Engineer's primary responsibilities include leading, supporting and mentoring the team of technical administrators responsible for the management, support, and oversight of PBGC's Hitachi storage and Veritas NetBackup solutions and will involve designing, implementing, and maintaining storage and backup solutions to ensure data integrity, availability, and security.

Job Duties

• Design, deploy, and manage Hitachi SAN and NAS storage solutions to meet the organization's data storage needs efficiently.

• Administer Veritas NetBackup infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of backup servers and clients.

• Manage and maintain Brocade SAN switch architecture.

• Configure and optimize storage systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Identify, analyze, and resolve complex storage and backup issues.

• Develop storage and backup policies and procedures to ensure that the team operates effectively and reliably. Oversee and assist in development of guides for users and technicians, such as Knowledgebase Articles (KBAs), Work Instructions and Design documents.

• Resolve service escalations and incident management, provide direct customer support by handling service desk and platform team ticket escalations and manage the Storage and Backups Team's ticket queue ensuring service escalations are resolved in a timely manner.

This position will require 2 days per week on site in Washington D.C.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience (5 years if no degree) in managing Hitachi SAN and NAS technologies.

• Minimum 3 years of experience (5 years if no degree) with Veritas NetBackup infrastructure and processes.

• Proficiency in storage and backup concepts, methodologies, and best practices.

• Experience in process enhancement, developing and implementing policies and procedures for the Storage and Backup team.

• Must possess strong written and verbal communicators, be able to communicate with team members, management personnel, and end users throughout the organization.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze, identify and direct resolution of technical, administrative and process issues.

• Experience supporting and documenting build and configuration changes throughout environments.

• Certifications such as Hitachi Data Systems Certified Professional (HDSCP) and Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS) are a plus.

• Clearance : Must be able to attain Public Trust

Target salary range: $125,001 - $135,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
