    Responsibilities

    This job is responsible for providing day-to-day supervision for the EVS department under guidance of Director and/or

    Manager; ensures a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics to patients, visitors and staff. This

    position also is responsible for daily oversight of regulatory standards, financial stewardship of department operations

    and collaboration with other management team members to support the department in its daily functions.

    Trains and develops a highly equipped and engaged Environmental Services Team using evidence-based techniques,

    process and mission metrics (KPIs) to ensure we provide a clean safe environment as we help save lives.

    Provides supervision of staff, making sound business decisions in support of the hospital's mission, vision and values.

    Demonstrates supervision in providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, and value. Supervises

    the day to day operations of the department; ensures a clean safe environment and aesthetics to patients, family,

    visitors, physicians, nurses and staff as we help save lives.

    • One-on-one training and development of EVS staff.

    • Supervises the necessary resources needed for the Environmental Services department under their control andmakes recommendations to hiring, promoting and annual staff performance reviews.

    • Supervises a waste program that separates, packages and disposes of all waste according to all regulationsPerforms quality improvement initiatives under direction of EVS manager/director. Conducts rounding activities toensure environmental hygiene in all areas assigned. Prepares necessary reporting to manager(s) and documentresults.

    • Conducts ES Survey required reports. E.G. Standard work audits, Direct Observations, Fluorescent Marker, CleanTrace ATP.

    • Supervises the bed tracking system and ensure EVS response times are achieved. Prepare reports to documentresults, collaborating with the EVS manager to develop improvement activities.

    • Demonstrates working knowledge of the cleaning and disinfection principles and requirements, proper chemical,equipment usage, and labor requirements for maintenance of furniture, furnishings, interior finishes for all areas ofresponsibility.

    • Provides oversight of inventories, usage data, and ordering of consumable supplies and equipment repairs

    • Prepares work and time schedules, under the direction of the Manager/Director, coordinating vacation and holidaytime and reviewing daily adjustments in the work schedule.

    • Promotes and supervises a culture of safety, hand hygiene, patient experience, as well as employee engagementand retention.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Supervises the work of subcontractors and/or EVS suppliers for the department as needed.

    • Adheres to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control and prevention standards. Promotes aculture of patient safety through observation and education.

    • Coaches team members on the chain of infection and the core principles of the transmission of infectious pathogens.

    • Responds to emergency calls and multiple priorities as needed to coordinate staffing changes and minimizedisruption.

    • Conduct patient and staff interviews to evaluate service levels and promote positive public relations. Activelyparticipates and contributes to efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness scores and key departmentalperformance metrics.

    • Controls expenditures within sphere of approved budget objectives. Take corrective action when variances affectbudget.

    Qualifications

    Education/Work Experience Requirements:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent, and three years in environmental services. One year supervisory level

    experience is preferred.

    Job Knowledge/Abilities

    • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of OSHA, TJC, DOT, CDC Policy and Standard Workdevelopment/implementation.

    • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the principles of environmental infection prevention and control.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of teammembers and management.

    • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project, PM software, and EVS software systems preferred.

    • Experience with typical EVS equipment/machinery.Licensure/Certification

    • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification preferred.
