  • The Banking and International Risk ("BIR") Chief Administrative Officer ("CAO") reports directly to the Head of Chief Risk Officer ("CRO") BIR and has responsibility for coordinating across all the Banking and International Risk teams to ensure efficient management of multi-disciplinary processes. This includes coordination of regulatory responses, active participation in all the key implementation initiatives affecting Wholesale Credit, Project Management oversight, Issue Management and other critical controls for the independent risk management of Citi's Banking and International products and clients globally. BIR CAO partners with 1st, 2nd and 3rd line units to leverage opportunities to improve processes and tools. The organization will continue to build a strong governance culture for BIR and interface globally with regulators to ensure continuity, consistency, and clarity in our interactions.

    The Banking and International Risk Rating Team is a newly created division under the BIR CAO organization which will be responsible for the development, design, and implementation of enhanced end-to-end risk rating processes for Wholesale Credit portfolios.

    The Banking and International Risk Rating Senior Associate will be responsible for:

    • Leading the design and development of risk rating frameworks that clearly articulates roles and responsibilities for Citi's end-to-end management and assignment of internal risk ratings. This will include cooperation with the Banking and International Risk ("BIR") Policy Office and owners of respective policies and standards as well as subject matter experts from 1st and 2nd Line of Defense across all lines of business, owners of Risk Rating Processes, Wholesale Credit and Climate Risk("WCCR"), and Data Analytics Reporting and Technology ("DART").

    • Identify opportunities for risk rating simplification and enhancements to further improve internal practices and reduce operational complexities.

    • Implementation of target state governance of risk rating policy, standards and operating procedures within BIR, leveraging industry standards and best practices and ensuring consistency across the firm.

    • Development of new or existing controls, monitoring, reporting and escalation practices to address data quality concerns and ensure adherence to policy, standards, and operating procedures.

    • Ensure risk rating frameworks comply with regulatory guidance and expectations and stay updated on any changes or new requirements which may require amendment to current governance documents and/or internal practices

    • Partnering with WCCR on transformation of Wholesale Credit risk rating methodologies, definitions, probability of default scales, and model taxonomy.

    • Develop and deliver regular socialization and formal updates, as required, for new initiatives and enhancements related to risk rating frameworks both internally to Executive Senior Management, Heads of Business across 1st and 2nd Line of Defense, and formal governance periodicities as well as externally to regulators..

    • Prepare and deliver internal training materials on risk ratings initiatives, as needed, working closely with stakeholders such as Risk Managers, Business, Institutional Credit Management ("ICM"), Finance, Fundamental Credit Risk and Internal Audit to ensure materials appropriately reflect published guidance and address business needs.

    • Issue Management: Acting as the lead coordinator responsible for the end-to-end process of identifying, raising, remediating, and closing gaps related to risk rating frameworks and practices. This will include identifying key stakeholders to contribute to the design and implementation of issue remediation, leading working group meetings to deliver results in a timely fashion, providing regular progress updates to senior management, and preparing all required artifacts and memos to support and evidence issue closure.

    • Engage with 1st and 2nd Line of Defense, Global Risk Review, and Internal Audit to solicit their feedback when assessing and identifying risks related to risk rating frameworks and practices.

    • Stay abreast of internal and external factors, as well as industry trends, affecting risk rating frameworks and practices.

    Requirements:

    • Subject matter knowledge of Wholesale Credit and the general principles of Credit Risk management. This includes an understanding of the Wholesale Credit portfolios and businesses, the risk rating process across businesses and how to assess, manage, and monitor risk.?

    • Vision of how to establish, implement and govern an end-to-end process. Experience in drafting policies, procedures, trainings and/or reporting.

    • Clear understanding of Risk Management policies and regulatory directives, specifically from the perspective of the development of robust controls and escalation framework for Wholesale Credit risk rating processes.

    • Ability to meet deadlines for targeted deliverables in a timely, proactive, and entrepreneurial manor.

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years' experience in Wholesale Credit Risk Management, Project Management, Risk Rating Model Management, and/or other control functions.

    • Experience in leading and coordinating firm-wide initiatives and issue management governance.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to discuss technical issues with partners and foundational concepts with Senior Management stakeholders.

    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to foster a collaborative environment and positively promote and influence change.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience

    $130,880.00 - $196,320.00
