    As a Corporate Tax Manager at our Houston-based client, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our corporate tax functions. You will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance, strategizing tax planning, and ensuring adherence to tax regulations. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and work-life balance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Tax Compliance:

    • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

    • Manage tax provision calculations, including ASC 740/FAS 109 calculations.

    • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the organization's compliance.

    • Tax Planning and Strategy:

    • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize the company's tax liability.

    • Analyze financial data to identify opportunities for tax savings and optimization.

    • Provide guidance on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic financial transactions from a tax perspective.

    • Tax Audits and Disputes:

    • Represent the company in tax audits and disputes, liaising with tax authorities as necessary.

    • Develop and maintain documentation to support tax positions taken by the organization.

    • Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and fostering their professional growth.

    • Allocate tasks, set priorities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of tax-related projects.

    • Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all required tax-related reports and documents.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data for tax reporting purposes.

    • Risk Management:

    • Assess and mitigate tax-related risks by implementing effective internal controls and processes.

    • Identify and evaluate potential tax liabilities and propose solutions to mitigate them.

    • Stakeholder Communication:

    • Communicate tax strategies and findings effectively to senior management and other stakeholders.

    • Provide clear explanations of complex tax issues to non-tax professionals within the organization.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or advanced degree is preferred.

    • 8+ years of experience in corporate tax, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

    • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

    • Experience with tax compliance software and financial accounting systems.

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and in a team, while also effectively managing and mentoring staff.

    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
