    Responsibilities

    The Genomics Extraction Core is looking for a Technical Specialist to work with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator roles, and the Genomics Extraction Core management team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory. We are a pre-analytical laboratory that isolates DNA and RNA for hereditary and oncology testing and provide both manual and automated extraction platforms. As part of the genetic world, we continue to grow and change platforms as advancements in technology happen! In this role some of your responsibilities will include:

    • Operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays

    • Validating and documenting operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP)

    • Providing direction for operational workflow, and serving as an expert resource for the work unit and a resource for laboratory technologists

    • Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives

    *Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

    **This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years of relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.

    Additional Qualifications

    • Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.

    • Capable of performing under time constraints, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

    • Demonstrates self-motivation, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Able to work independently.

    • ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

    $68,411.20 - $102,731.20 per year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
