    Theater and Dance at University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Temporary Dance Production Associate! The Associate is a production-based professional and mentor who functions as a team member of imaginarians engaged in the work of decolonizing the university and creating new futures for dance. In the Department of Theatre and Dance, the Associate plays an instrumental role in the implementation and success of all Dance productions. In collaboration with the Director of Dance Production, the Associate provides technical expertise and support for all of the Dance Program's performances and showings across the academic year. This role trains and mentors student choreographers, designers, run crew members, and dance shop student employees. Additionally, they supervise ongoing maintenance, improvements, and operations of stage and classroom venues, including floors, lighting, sound, video, aerial dance, and scenic equipment.

    What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

    • Work in collaboration with the Director of Dance Production to plan and complete all production needs for upcoming dance performances across the academic year.

    • Approximately 6-8 shows per year containing between 2-10 pieces per production.

    • Engage proactively with the Director of Dance Production, choreographers, and designers to strategize and optimize the implementation and execution of production and design ideas.

    • Train and mentor a crew of 6-12 dance shop student employees.

    • Train and mentor 4-6 run crew practicum students per show, ensuring role confidence and safety for all students participating backstage on dance productions.

    • Lead all aspects of strikes following dance productions and attend shows to provide support to student crew.

    • Supervise ongoing maintenance, improvements, and operation of stage and classroom including floors, lighting, sound, scenic & video equipment in dance spaces and venues.

    What You Should Know

    • This is a temporary, part-time position anticipated to begin August 19th and last through the 2024 - 2025 academic school year.

    • The schedule requires availability Friday afternoons 12-6pm; Saturdays and Sundays required depending on production schedule; and additional hours as needed Tuesday -Thursday.

    What We Can Offer

    $25.00 per hour.

    What We Require

    • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience will substitute on a year for year basis.

    • 1 year of production experience within an undergraduate program or beyond.

    • A valid U.S. Drivers License.

    What You Will Need

    • Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and operating genie lifts.

    • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

    • Proven knowledge of theatrical control and playback systems, including ETC EOS, Qlab, and Isadora.
