Position : Tower Technician II

Location : Ohio, OH

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for all aspects of cell tower antenna and line and antenna work as well as limited civil work. You will assist Tower Top Hand with site duties that include tower and ground operations, including new project work. Excellent communication with Tower Top Hand about work progress and known issues. Also to provide adequate back up to the top hand while working the top side of the tower and taking daily direction from Tower Foreman. Learn and continue to develop all general requirements of the construction process through training, guidance, and work leadership to support subordinate climbers/tower technicians to maximize efficiency, safety, and productivity, minimize costs and maintain quality supporting all aerial operations.

Essential Functions:

• Perform all aspects of cell tower antenna and line and antenna work as well as limited civil work, including proper use of antenna alignment tools, installing RRUs and associated RF, fiber, and power cabling

• Ensures safety standards and requirements are adhered to by craftsmen and others when in the operational area

• Ensures tools and equipment are inspected daily and are operated safely; sets a good example for the rest of the crew

• Provides direct support to Top Hand and crew as required and ensure the team is completing tasks as assigned in an applicable timeframe

• Responsible for the quality of his/her crew's work workmanship on communication sites as well as his/her work behavior

• Responsible for all tools, equipment, and material issued

• Responsibility includes the training of crew members

• Responsible for all required paperwork, project deliverables, and sweeps

• Ability to fill the position or replace someone for a short period of time (One position below or above)

• Responsible for your physical ability to climb and work at an acceptable pace determined by management

Education:

Four years of High School or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience:

2 to 5 years in related field

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiar with RF theory

• Familiar with proper procedures and able to perform and inspect for all types of rigging operations

• Familiar with basic electrical work

• Familiar with basic computer related tasks (Outlook (email), Word, Excel, search information on the internet, etc.)

• Ability to operate a capstan

• Possesses basic civil work skills commonly used to build in-building telecommunications sites (Pour concrete, carpentry, landscaping, heavy equipment operation, etc.)

• Ability to assist in the building of all types of communication sites (self-supporting, guyed, monopoles, and rooftops)

• Familiar with the preparation of all types of required internal paperwork (Schedules, daily reports, timesheets, etc.)

• Familiar with reading engineering drawings, Construction Drawings, RFDSs, sweeps, PIM, and specifications

• Ability to work at heights for extended periods of time

• A high level of professionalism must be portrayed at all times

• Candidate must be a good communicator and effective in personal time management

• Candidate must provide accurate and timely updates to the Construction Manager assigned

• Travel to projects as required (Ohio Region)

• Able to take direction and provide strong communications skills; verbal and written

• Proficient knowledge of MS-Office & MS-Project preferred

• Strong leadership skills preferred

• Ability to operate power tools and use hand tools that are required

• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license and the ability to travel to work sites throughout the market
