Union Diesel Mechanic/Journeyman

Sanipac, a Waste Connections site in Eugene, OR has an immediate position open for a Diesel Mechanic/Journeyman to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks. Individuals with 1+ years experience working on heavy diesel trucks or those that have completed a Diesel Technology program are encouraged to apply.

Hours are Monday-Thursday 1:30pm -12am or Tuesday - Friday 1:30pm - 12am with occasional OT.

This is a union position with great pay, benefits and a tool allowance! Starting rate at $28.58-$31.58 per hour DOE.

Responsibilities include

• Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.

• Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

• Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

• Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

• Performs maintenance related work as required.

• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

• Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess

• 1+ year experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or completion of a diesel tech program

• Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

• Clean driving record.

• Provide personal tools.

• Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.

• Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
