VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary laboratory assistant to join our team full time. We are a hybrid veterinary hospital and proud to be one of the premier providers of primary, specialty and emergency care located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York.

Our 17 doctor hospital serves our clients 24/7/365. We are looking for individuals who is a self starter and has a passion for managing our lab. This is a wonderful opportunity for a laboratory assistant who desires a challenge and the opportunity to grow and contribute with a collaborative team. We value exceptional client care and professionalism and are seeking like-minded individuals. This person will also play a role in Safety Management and OSHA and if time permits, patient care.

Requirements for this position:

• The Laboratory Assistant must be organized; detail oriented, and have a high level of multi-tasking.

• An understanding of Idexx lab equipment is preferred, but not required.

• Good time management skills

• Must be able to communicate effectively with team members

Responsibilities: Including, but not limited to:

• Operate Analyzers

• Prepare samples for shipment

• Track lab results

• Run routine Quality Control

• Machine Maintenance

• Trouble shoot laboratory equipment issues

• Prepare inventory order for lab supplies

• Restock and clean work area

• OSHA and Safety Coordinator

Miscellaneous items

• Help with treatments as needed under guidance from DVM or technician

• Unpack and shelve inventory

Available Schedule:

Compensation: $ 18 - 19 / hour based on skill set,, and experience
