    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field and 3 years of digital content creation. An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.

    Job Summary:

    The Web Content Specialist works as part of a digital services team within the university's marketing and communications area. The individual guides the creation and organization of written and visual content for the web and other digital channels. The Web Content Specialist collaborates extensively with business and subject matter experts across the institution and orchestrates the deployment and maintenance of web projects with other members of the digital services team. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, be very comfortable with a range of technology, and be able to write and edit well and at an elevated pace.

    Experience in academic health centers, web trends, and compliance requirements

    Job Duties:

    • Guides the intake and initial setup of new web projects and works with clients/subject matter experts to determine and help understand goals and needs, audience, and objectives for a new website.

    • Works with university clients and subject matter experts to write, assemble, edit, and produce digital content for the web and other digital platforms.

    • Works collaboratively with the Web Design and Development Specialist to organize and structure content into a web-appropriate format and information architecture/hierarchy, to include determining the most effective and user-friendly site navigation and structure.

    • Creates, edits, and optimizes images and other media for use on the web.

    • Guides the development of any needed forms or special site elements.

    • Possesses a basic knowledge of HTML and web technologies.

    • Works with the UTMB strategic branding team to enforce the university's brand standards, particularly as it relates to websites and digital platforms.

    • Develops content that is accessible, responsive, and complies with applicable regulations and guidelines, including copyright and privacy requirements.

    • Deploys SEO best practices as part of the content and site development

    • Uses a project management system to track progress and share updates and deadlines.

    • Provides support for ancillary systems managed by the digital team (wayfinding, digital signage, provider directory, etc.)

    • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

    • Performs related duties as required.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft and/or synthesize compelling web copy.

    • Ability to work with and guide a range of clients with different competencies: research and/or interview subject matter experts to collect, create, and edit text for new or revamped web projects.

    • Be able to work with images, videos, links, embeds, and related technologies (experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus).

    • Edit text in a Web Content Management System (knowledge of Sitefinity is a plus).

    • Be able to work with project management software and an online/shared document management system (experience with MS Office 360 is a plus)

    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Must be able to multitask, be self-directed, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    Salary Range:

    Actual salary commensurate with experience.

    Work Schedule:

    Partial Remote, onsite as needed. Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
