    Description of Work Unit

    Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation's leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.     The Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory is a research and teaching unit at Colorado State University with a mission "to ensure the sustainability of the Earth's ecosystems through the generation and application of new knowledge." The department's interdisciplinary, ecosystem research promotes collaborations among disciplines and across fields of expertise at CSU and throughout the world. As a soft-money research unit, this role is critical to ensure adequate funding to sustain its vital role in the research community both locally and across the globe.

    Position Summary

    The Research Program Aide will provide support for several research projects within a large research group including travel, event/meeting coordination, and purchasing. This position will be responsible for compiling information for research studies, conducting quality control and evaluating research results in consultation with supervisor and other team members.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • A Master's degree in environmental sciences, mathematics/statistics, or related field

    OR

    • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, mathematics/statistics, or related field plus 3 years of related work experience.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    • Experience managing project logistics, budgets, purchasing, travel coordination, and/or financial reporting

    • Experience with university or government agency administrative policies and procedures

    • Expertise with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

    • Experience with data management

    • Experience with agricultural data and/or estimation of greenhouse gas emissions

    • Assist supervisor and research staff with project planning, staffing, travel arrangements, and purchasing.

    • Assist supervisor with preparation of grant and contract reports, including budget tracking and expenditure review for financial reporting purposes.

    • Schedule and provide meeting support for the research group, including taking notes and communicating meeting outcomes.
