    As a Systems/Software Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with system and software engineering teams to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of product development. In this role you will ensure the product and product development process meets customer, regulatory, and Collins Aerospace requirements, and follows engineering best practices. You will be part of the Avionics Design Assurance Center (DAC) in Puerto Rico.

    This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

    What YOU will do:

    • You will LEAD DESIGN QUALITY ENGAGEMENT. Serve as the primary Quality focal point for assigned engineering projects. Develop Quality plans for new product developments. Participate in and assess Engineering project planning activities. Represent Design Quality at customer events, customer audits, internal audits, Certification audits, and Stages of Involvement (SOI) audits.

    • You will ASSESS ENGINEERING EFFECTIVENESS. Ensure engineering efforts are performed effectively and efficiently, meeting customer, company, and applicable regulatory requirements and quality expectations. Participate in planning, requirement and design reviews, test readiness reviews, and other project reviews and team meetings.

    • You will EVALUATE PROJECTS. Perform Quality assessments to determine the health of development projects using objective criteria. Apply insightful judgment to properly judge process compliance and assess necessary quality related improvements. Employ methods such as root cause analysis.

    • You will MENTOR TEAMS. Mentor engineering teams as needed throughout the development lifecycle in the areas of process, tools, design quality, and regulatory requirements to drive robust and effective project execution. Influence project teams and leadership to resolve quality and related compliance issues.

    Education & Experience:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 5 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

    Qualifications you must have

    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

    • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

    • 3+ years working experience with applying System & Software Quality Assurance and Control.

    Skills we value

    • Experience applying DO-178 and/or ARP4754 to product development

    • Working knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) standards such as AS9100 and AS9115

    • Experience supporting regulatory agency AS9100 & QMS audits, SOI audits, and customer audits

    • Experience working in an Agile development environment, e.g., SAFe

    • Requirements Management experience with DOORS and JAMA

    • Proficient with Atlassian Development Tools, e.g., JIRA

    • Experience with Subversion Configuration Management

    • Experience with Root Cause Analysis methods
